Keitumetse Shanah-Suping is a Botswana entrepreneur with more than three decades of business experience spanning retail, beauty, logistics, procurement, international trade, and property development. Since beginning her entrepreneurial journey in 1991, she has built, operated, and expanded multiple successful businesses in Botswana and South Africa while creating employment opportunities and contributing to economic development.
Her business career began in Francistown in 1991 when she established her first salon business at a time when the beauty industry in Botswana was still in its early stages. Recognizing the shortage of trained hairdressers, she invested in developing local talent by training employees on the job and equipping them with practical skills that enabled them to build careers within the industry.
Over the years, she expanded her operations into Gaborone and successfully built a network of beauty businesses that included multiple salons and the highly successful Beauty Joy and Hair Joy retail brands. Beauty Joy grew to seven branches across Gaborone and became one of Botswana's pioneering beauty and fashion retail businesses, offering cosmetics, hair products, beauty supplies, and fashion accessories under one roof.
Through her various retail enterprises, Keitumetse created employment opportunities for more than 35 people and played an important role in developing local skills and entrepreneurship within the beauty industry.
Her entrepreneurial ambitions later extended beyond Botswana. In 2013, she expanded into Johannesburg, South Africa, where she established and operated two retail stores under the Shamaz Beauty Store brand. During her seven years in South Africa, she strengthened her expertise in regional commerce, procurement, and cross-border business operations.
Recognizing the opportunities presented by global trade, Keitumetse developed extensive relationships within China's manufacturing sector and became a direct importer of products from Chinese suppliers. Her experience in international sourcing, supplier management, and logistics enabled her businesses to access quality products at competitive prices while maintaining strong quality standards.
In 2010, she founded Kaysha Shipping Company, a venture dedicated to assisting businesses and individuals with procurement, shipping, and sourcing solutions. The company maintained a presence in China through three Chinese employees who assisted with supplier coordination, sourcing activities, and operational support, providing clients with direct access to manufacturers and international markets.
In addition to her achievements in retail and logistics, Keitumetse has successfully undertaken property development projects in Botswana and South Africa. By leveraging her sourcing expertise and direct access to Chinese manufacturers, she imported construction materials that were used in the development of multiple residential properties around Gaborone and a property in Midrand, South Africa.
Today, Keitumetse Shanah-Suping serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Golden Route Shipping. She continues to apply her extensive knowledge of international trade, procurement, logistics, and business development to help individuals and companies access opportunities in global markets.
Her journey reflects resilience, innovation, determination, and a lifelong commitment to entrepreneurship. Having built businesses across multiple industries and countries, she remains dedicated to empowering others through enterprise development, job creation, and access to international trade opportunities.
